As if running a marathon isn't grueling enough, it turns out you have to obey the rules, too.

Not doping rules or anything heavy like that. What's in your bloodstream on Milwaukee Lakefront Marathon race day is your business.

It's small stuff. Some would say petty stuff. Cassie Peller, the top female finisher in Sunday's event, was disqualified for accepting a water bottle from a friend out on the course.

That gave the crown briefly to Jennifer Goebel until it came out that she had listened to her iPod for a short time while running. Shocking, I know. This rule is only enforced for more elite runners.
