Article: Sausage-maker's delight at sizzling growth in sales ; E HULL: Cranswick's soaring trading performance

CRANSWICK Plc boss Martin Davey described the company's performance as "tremendously encouraging" after it announced doubledigit sales growth for the first half of the year.

The east Hull sausage-maker reported a hike in revenue of 19 per cent for the six months to the end of September, compared with the same period last year.

In a trading update release yesterday, Cranswick said it achieved an operating margin in line with the previous financial year, despite record rises in pig prices.

Prices peaked at 156p/kg earlier this year, but has since softened to about 150p/kg.

The company also reported a reduction in net debt due to cash generated from operations and corporate activity.
