NEW transport arrangements should make it easier for south Durham
residents to get to hospital, following a controversial shake-up of
healthcare.
A one-stop booking system is now operating for patients in the
Durham Dales who need to travel for treatment in Bishop Auckland,
Darlington or Durham.
Two Hospital Link buses are also running five days a week in
Weardale and Teesdale, while a free shuttle bus travels between
Bishop Auckland Hospital, Darlington Memorial Hospital and the
University Hospital of North Durham.
Visitors and all patients can book their journeys by calling a
dedicated line, 0191-383-5383.
Previously, only eligible patients could book non-emergency
ambulance transport ...
