Not surprisingly, when A.O. Smith Corp. unveiled a $77 million acquisition of a water technology company in China recently, the Milwaukee manufacturer drew attention to its prospects in China.

It turns out, however, that A.O. Smith's ambitions in water technology don't stop with the world's most populous nation.

Since its mid-September announcement, A.O. Smith executives have made it clear the acquisition of Tianlong Holding Ltd. is part of a broader and more global strategic expansion.
