NEW HAVEN -- A taxi driver was shot at but not hit in an
attempted robbery in Beaver Hills Friday morning, police said. The
driver was dispatched to 52 Blake St. just before 4 a.m. for a
pickup and two males got into the cab. According to police, one put
a gun to the back of the driver's head and demanded money. The
second male urged the gunman to shoot the driver and when the cabbie
started to drive off, one of the males jumped out of the cab. Before
the second one jumped out, he shot at the driver, hitting the
steering column of the cab, police said. No arrests were reported.
