Employment in the Oklahoma City Metropolitan Statistical Area in October totaled 550,200, up 600 from September.

October's employment for the six-county area was up 4,800 from October 2001, according to the Oklahoma Employment Security Commission.

Employment for the month included 80,400 goods-producing jobs and 469,800 service-producing jobs. Goods-producing jobs were down 600 from September and down 1,300 from October 2001. Service-producing jobs were up 1,200 from September and 6,100 higher than October 2001.

Employment in the Oklahoma City area for October represented 36 percent of total statewide employment of 1.53 million.
