CHEYENNE - Wyoming will receive $2.8 million in federal funds for improvements to the Snowy Range Scenic Byway.

"This is a big-dollar project, and we're glad we got it funded," said Talbot Hauffe, Wyoming Department of Transportation senior planner and the state's scenic byway planner.

"We're very excited about it," he added, because the money does not come from state revenue.

The Federal Highway Administration announced Friday that 43 states will receive $40.7 million for 160 projects to improve and promote highways designated as scenic byways.
