STEPHEN Shields yesterday ended the inaugural British Isles
Indoor Bowls Council's Under-18 Championship on a high, helping
Ireland win the Plate tournament at the County Antrim Club.
The Irish produced their best form of the two-day event to defeat
Channel Islands and earn a little consolation for their efforts.
England won the main prize following a victory over their second
team in the final.
Shields went out with all guns blazing as he coasted to a 18-3,
17-1 win over Ryan Videgrain in the final game in the singles.
Pauline Dunseith and Ryan Bell enjoyed a tie-break victory over
Ross Davies and Gary Walton in the pairs. The Irish duo edged a
tense opening set 8-7, but completely lost ...
