Archaeologist meeting set on Indian language
The history of Siouan-speaking tribes in the Ohio Valley will be
discussed during the annual meeting of the West Virginia
Archaeological Society on Oct. 24 in South Charleston.
Dr. Robert L. Rankin, professor emeritus of linguistics at the
University of Kansas, will be the main speaker at the meeting, to be
held in the Ramada Plaza hotel.
Rankin has been involved with the study of prehistoric people
through the history of their languages and comparative linguistics.
His work has involved correlating linguistic and archeological
evidence for Siouan origins, movements and cultural developments. He
