Elderly man shot in apparent robbery

GLEN BURNIE - A man was shot Wednesday night in an apparent robbery in Glen Burnie, county police said.

The 73-year-old man was walking in the 1400 block of Madison Park Drive at about 8:35 p.m. when another man walked up to him, said Justin Mulcahy, a county police spokesman. The man pointed a handgun at him and may have tried to rob him. But the older man fought back, police said.

During the struggle, the man shot the elderly man once and ran away.

The older man was taken by ambulance to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore with life-threatening injuries, said Division Chief Michael Cox, a county Fire Department spokesman.
