Lac du Flambeau -- Every day at work, spectators watch Gib Haley's every move.

Perched high above Pokegama Lake, their eyes take in the 300- foot-long gill net that Haley, a Lac du Flambeau tribal member, slowly pulls in each morning hopefully laden with whitefish. Haley always tosses a few fish to the eagles. He has seen as many as a dozen of the majestic raptors in one day.

"You have to give something to get something. Every morning when I pull up my fish, I give some back to the eagles," said Haley, 47. "Most times they sit up in a tree and watch me. They're like a dog following you around."
