Article: Helen Thomas, dean of the White House press corps, tells it like it is

OAKLAND -- President John F. Kennedy was her favorite president and the one with the best sense of humor.

President Jimmy Carter was always quick with the facts and figures at press briefings.

President Lyndon. B. Johnson didn't mind trekking across the south lawn with the press corps.

And President George W. Bush was Helen Thomas' least favorite president to cover in her nearly 60 years as a White House correspondent.

Thomas, on a tour for her book "Listen Up Mr. President: Everything You Always Wanted Your President to Know and Do," gave a talk Monday night along with Rep. Barbara Lee, D-Oakland, at Mills College. Journalist Craig Crawford co-authored the book.
