Long before the C&O Canal by Great Falls was a tranquil place for
a stroll, it was the site of accidents and epidemics. The struggles
of the people who worked and lived along the canal will be portrayed
Oct. 17 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. in "Life and Death on the C&O Canal."
Park rangers and volunteers will perform vignettes depicting tragic
events that occurred during the hour-long walking tour. It's not for
the squeamish or young children. The program is popular, and
