Wheeling Tunnel's east tube to reopen
WHEELING - Traffic soon will be moving again through the Wheeling
Tunnel's eastbound tube.
The state Division of Highways plans to reopen the tube today.
It's been closed since Sept. 8 for renovation work.
DOH project engineer Dustin Neely says some electrical work and
painting will continue after the tube opens but traffic won't be
affected.
Ahern and Associates of Charleston will begin renovating the
westbound tube next year. As part of the $6.7 million contract, the
company addressed issues with the eastbound tunnel that weren't
completed by a previous contractor.
