Te Rapa's three top racing administrators are back in the saddle
after an Internal Affairs Department investigation into misuse of
poker machine money cleared the Waikato Racing Club of any
wrongdoing.
Club chairman David Smith and vice- chairman Peter McCowan have
returned to their posts, while general manager Tony Enting was also
exonerated in an inquiry which has seen pokie trust First Sovereign
Trust facing court charges. The trio could yet be required to give
evidence at the trial and were unable to comment today.
Smith and McCowan stood down from their executive positions on
the Waikato Racing Club board when Internal Affairs opened its
