Article: B.W. Cooper public housing redevelopment in New Orleans begins

Construction began today on the $142 million first phase to redevelop the B.W. Cooper public housing development, the last of New Orleans' "Big Four" public housing communities to start redevelopment.

U.S. Housing and Urban Development Secretary Shaun Donovan attended a ceremony at the site to mark the start of construction.

"This is a great day for New Orleans, the housing authority and, most of all, the families of B.W. Cooper," said Donovan, in New Orleans with President Barack Obama, who attended a town hall meeting at the University of New Orleans.
