Article: Driving tailpipe emissions downward Program results in fuel savings, cleaner air

Employees of Veolia Water Services and the Milwaukee Department of Public Works achieved 13% improvement in fuel economy after getting behind-the-wheel training on driving techniques that can save money and help reduce tailpipe emissions.

The results were announced Wednesday by Wisconsin Clean Cities- Southeast Area, the state Department of Natural Resources and Milwaukee Area Technical College.

Over the past two years, southeastern Wisconsin has been home to the first eco-driving training initiative in the nation since the oil shocks of the 1970s, said Francis X. Vogel, executive director of Wisconsin Clean Cities-Southeast Area.
