More than 130 jobs are under threat at a Yeovil aerospace factory
after company bosses announced plans to axe almost 40 per cent of
its workforce.
Staff at the Yeovil arm of global company GKN Aerospace were
informed last Monday of likely job losses at the site, which employs
around 350 people. Bosses at the factory, which specialises in
manufacturing metal and assembling components for aircraft and
helicopters, say they have entered into a 90-day consultation period
with the workers affected. In total, 135 posts are at risk across
all departments.
Trade union Unite has been working closely with GKN and employees
to look at possible redeployment within the aerospace industry but ...
