Article: Talks start as factory looks to axe 40% of staff

More than 130 jobs are under threat at a Yeovil aerospace factory after company bosses announced plans to axe almost 40 per cent of its workforce.

Staff at the Yeovil arm of global company GKN Aerospace were informed last Monday of likely job losses at the site, which employs around 350 people. Bosses at the factory, which specialises in manufacturing metal and assembling components for aircraft and helicopters, say they have entered into a 90-day consultation period with the workers affected. In total, 135 posts are at risk across all departments.
