Brewmaster Adam Lamoreaux may be making a name for himself in
Oakland by concocting the Steam-style Urban People's Common Lager
and slightly sweet Burning Oak Black Lager now served at several
East Bay restaurants.
But it's really the charitable sense of community on tap at his
Linden Street Brewery that's getting rave reviews. Seeing beer as
"social currency," Lamoreaux has offered up his Port of Oakland
brewery to several local organizations needing a site for
fundraisers.
Lamoreaux will open his brewery Saturday to Rotarians from
Piedmont, Montclair and other parts of town to host "Brats and Beer:
A Benefit for Oakland."
Proceeds from the five-hour family festival in the brewery's
