Article: Fort Piqua Plaza's restoration earns national award

PIQUA -- The National Trust for Historic Preservation today, Oct. 15, presented its Preservation Honor Award to the City of Piqua for Fort Piqua Plaza.

The award was one of 23 bestowed by the National Trust during its 2009 National Preservation Conference in Nashville, Tenn.

According to the award:

In 1891, when the Richardsonian Romanesquestyle Fort Piqua Hotel was built at the intersection of High and Main streets in downtown Piqua, the handsome and elegant building was an immediate sensation.
