Bekins, headquartered in Hillside, Ill., outside Chicago, announced Hoover as its chief executive officer Tuesday.

"Greg is not a status quo manager, and we needed someone to help Bekins find new solutions," said Doug McGrath, a Bekins board member who served on the CEO search team.
