Energy Minister Gerry Brownlee is clearly dazzled by the age-old
con job of Eldorado and unaware of the implications of selling "300
years'' worth of coal in a world concerned with global warming.
New Zealand is not in a position to profit from mining as
Australia and the United States are. Those continental countries
have a huge industrial infrastructure that allows them to mine their
own minerals and others' profitably.
In New Zealand, 40 per cent of our gold will buy their machines
and import the fuel to build their mines in our hills. The rest of
