Article: Rodeo board hands out 12 scholarships

One of the best ways to help the community is to help young people achieve their higher educational dreams, said San Dimas Rodeo Inc. education chairwoman Janie Graef.

The rodeo board, which stages the annual San Dimas/Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association Rodeo, recently awarded $8,000 in scholarships to 10 high school graduates and two college students.

"The rodeo board has been giving away scholarships for 10 years," Graef said. "Board members have always realized they need to give back to the community. What better way to do that than by giving money to graduating seniors from San Dimas, La Verne, Glendora and Charter Oak public and parochial schools and college students?"
