Mayors trophy walking race for blind launched in Yangon

YANGON, Oct. 15 (Xinhua) -- The 18th Yangon Mayor's Trophy Walking Race for the blind was launched here Thursday morning to mark the International White Cane Day.

Aimed at enhancing physical and mental growth for the blind, the race started from the People's Square on Pyay Road to the City Hall (about 5 kilo) in the downtown.

A total of 684 contestants from 11 schools for the blind across the country took part in the race, followed by supervisors and officials along the course.
