A ruling from the international cycling body (UCI) has forced a
late change for the Subway- Avanti team heading to Invercargill for
the Tour of Southland.
The youngest member, Michael Vink, will not be allowed to suit up
for the team because he does not meet the age requirements for a UCI
continental team.
Vink, 18, who recently won the junior version of the tour, has
been a part of the Subway team this year and riding under the team
banner in non-UCI events in New Zealand.
Team member Hayden Godfrey said it was "a bit of a grey area" and
unfortunate for the young cyclist, who was proving a rising talent
on the road.
