Superblock razing nears

Baltimore officials on Wednesday approved the first contract for demolition as part of the proposed $100 million Superblock redevelopment project.

The city will pay P&J Contracting Co. Inc. $1.2 million to knock down 12 buildings on the north side of West Lexington Street between Park Avenue and the former Stewarts department store building, which now houses the headquarters of Catholic Relief Services.
