Article: NeighborWorks Rochester marking 30 years

Nearly 50 homes bear a plaque outside their front doors letting visitors know they're in Swillburg -- and reminding residents of the community in which they've chosen to live.

The simple act of hanging a sign with a winking pig on it has helped to unify Swillburg's neighbors, according to David Chappius, president of the Swillburg Neighborhood Association.

The plaques came out of the Healthy Blocks initiative of NeighborWorks

Rochester, a group that has worked to foster area neighborhoods for 30 years. The national NeighborWorks program helps families become homeowners -- and stay that way -- through education programs, loans, grants and other practices.
