Solyndra Inc. extended a growth spurt by signing a deal to rent
506,000 square feet in Fremont, bringing hundreds of jobs to that
city, marking one of the Bay Area's biggest leases this year.
The solar panel and equipment maker's expansion lately has
sparkled against the backdrop of a dreary economic landscape in the
Bay Area.
The building that Fremont-based Solyndra has just leased will be
used by the company as a back-end facility that will support the
recently announced construction of its second solar panel
manufacturing plant.
"We're thrilled they are bringing the back-end operations to
Fremont," said Lori Taylor, an official with Fremont's Economic
