Article: Oklahoma jobless rate increases

Oklahoma's unemployment rate climbed to 5.6 percent in February, according to a monthly report from the Oklahoma Employment Security Commission.

The state's jobless rate was up from 5.4 percent in January and 4.9 percent for February 2002. Statewide unemployment totaled 94,100 with employment of 1,593,500.

The unemployment rate in the Oklahoma City Metropolitan Statistical Area in February was 4.8 percent, up from 4.7 percent for both January and February 2002. Unemployment in the Oklahoma City area totaled 27,760 with employment of 547,250.

Of the six counties in the Oklahoma City Metropolitan Statistical Area, Cleveland County had the lowest jobless rate in February with 3.5 percent, down ...
