The Upstate region saw one instance of venture capital investment in the third quarter according to the latest MoneyTree Report from PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP and the National Venture Capital Association, which is based on data provided by Thomson Reuters.

Novomer Inc. -- a developer of biodegradable plastics, polymers and other chemicals -- saw an $8 million investment for expansion from DSM Corporate Venturing, Flagship Ventures, OVP Venture Partners (formerly known as Olympic Venture Partners) and Physic Ventures.
