I was told that things have stopped at the new school in Wilmington at Avalon & L Street because they found the ground is contaminated. Is that true? If so, what is the plan now for that school?

Los Angeles Unified School District is moving ahead as scheduled with its plans for a K-8 school in central Wilmington.

Construction on the $117 million campus - set to be named Harry Bridges Span School for the longtime union leader - is expected to begin within the next two to three months, said Roderick Hamilton, LAUSD regional development manager.
