Article: Immigration crackdown fought in court

Ten residents picked up in a city raid two years ago by U.S. immigration officials are suing the federal agents and their supervisors, seeking damages for alleged illegal home entries and unlawful arrests.

Filed Wednesday in federal court by members of the Jerome N. Frank Legal Services Organization at the Yale Law School, the suit seeks damages for the individuals they contend were subjected to unconstitutional actions.

Almost two dozen Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials swept through a predominately Latino neighborhood in the city June 7, 2007, arresting 29 and charging them with being here illegally.
