Eight retailers said Wednesday they are in expansion mode in
Connecticut, despite the recession, and expect growth into next
year.
The International Council of Shopping Centers held a conference
at The Aqua Turf Club, attended by more than 200 people.
The event drew developers, real estate brokers, lawyers, retail
brokers and other industry professionals.
"It's a record crowd for this luncheon," said Matthew Halprin,
vice president of New England Retail Properties Inc.
Mark Gillman, director of real estate for Tractor Supply Co.,
said his chain's growth has been focused along the East Coast
corridor with a goal of going from 908 to 1,800 retail stores.
