UMass studies opening law school

DARTMOUTH - The Southern New England School of Law and the University of Massachusetts have revived discussions about opening a public law school in Dartmouth.

UMass said on Wednesday that the law school has offered to enter into talks that could lead to the donation of its assets to UMass- Dartmouth. The offer was conveyed in an Oct. 5 letter to UMass President Jack Wilson. UMass would get cash assets and the law school's Dartmouth campus, where about 235 students go to school. UMass said the total value of the offer is estimated at $22.6 million.
