HOME FRONT - AWAKE AGAIN

When you can't sleep, your mind circles like a hungry wolf: The job, the house, the bills, the news, the job, the house, the bills.

If somebody shares the bedroom with you, you get the benefit of his circling thoughts, too: The job, the house, the bills, the news - and, if he's a sports fan like my mate: The job, the house, the bills, the team, the team, the team, the team.

The cat, our third other ally in insomnia, brings his own thoughts to the mix: The mice, my food, this bug, the mice, my food, this bug.

Maybe it's the change of seasons, but it feels like no one is sleeping around here lately. These days we're three in a room with our insomnia.
