Phoenix temple plan clears hurdle

PHOENIX -- A proposal to build a Mormon temple in north Phoenix at 5104 W. Pinnacle Peak Road moved a step closer to reality after getting the green light from the Deer Valley Village Planning Committee, according to the Arizona Republic. Plans for the temple include a building that is 48 feet tall with 78 feet of steeple and spire. But the land's existing residential zoning caps a building's height at 30 feet.
