Article: Wastewater facility costs less than expected

MILLERSBURG -- As the county inches toward a ground breaking for the construction of the Walnut Creek wastewater treatment facility, the commissioners received word the equipment for the facility could cost 20 percent less than estimated.

Holmes County Sanitary Engineer Chris Young met with commissioners Thursday and discussed the bids the engineering firm ATS Engineers received for the facility's new equipment.

Young said the original estimate was almost $1.1 million. However one firm's bid was about $200,000 less than the estimate.

"They are going to doublecheck this week and make sure everything is what it seems to be," Young said.
