According to William Tonso, (Opinion Page, Oct. 6) if the United
States would agree to all the terrorists' demands, it would solve
all of our problems with the Islamic world.
Apparently Mr. Tonso fell asleep in high school history class. If
he had stayed awake, he would have learned that the U.S. had few, if
any, friends in the Islamic world before the rebirth of the state of
Israel.
Also, in all the Israeli-Arab wars, Israel has insisted that no
foreign blood be spilled on Israeli soil, unlike European allies of
the United States who asked us to fight for them.
The first Gulf War came about because Iraq invaded Kuwait. At
that time Israel was hit by Iraqi missiles.
