A few decades ago they were an absolute wonder; now, grandmasters
in their early teens have become almost commonplace, and today we
celebrate two more: the American Ray Robson and the Peruvian Jorge
Cori.
Although Cori has become a media sensation in Peru, his exact
birthday seems not to have been released, but he is apparently 14
years and two months. He racked up a third GM norm at the Marcel
Duchamp Memorial in Buenos Aires at the beginning of this month but
is currently rated 2445 and will have to breech 2500 before his
title is verified. His games are quite raw but he's obviously a huge
talent of whom we'll hear a great deal in the future.
