Article: Rector of All Saints' to be bishop of new Anglican group

LONG BEACH - As he sits back on a leather couch at All Saints' Church, Father William Thompson has a moment of respite.

It's a chance for him to reflect on the tumultuous past five years and the big challenges that lie ahead.

On Saturday, the longtime rector will be formally consecrated as the first bishop of the recently formed Dioceses of Western Anglicans in the Anglican Church in North America.

A gathering of about 800 congregants and national and international religious leaders are expected to be on hand for the service at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Newport Beach. It will be presided over by Archbishop Robert Duncan of the Anglican Church in North America.
