With one swift kick, Danny Ziegler put his Arrowhead boys soccer
team in a state semifinal game for just the second time in school
history.
The kick also eliminated Milwaukee Marquette, the reigning state
champion. Marquette has reached state for 10 straight years and in
that time has been denied a berth in the title game just twice.
Ziegler's goal with 4 minutes 46 seconds left in the second
overtime lifted Arrowhead to a 1-0 victory over Marquette in a state
quarterfinal game Thursday at Pat Jones Field at Uihlein Soccer
Park.
None of the four quarterfinal games was played on the adjacent
championship field because it was too wet in certain areas.
