NYE Antiques in Exeter has new additions to the showroom,
including an exceptional and rare Anglo-Indian carved rosewood
console table from around 1840, carrying a decoration influenced by
the Regency period, featuring intricately carved tulip motifs,
acanthus leaves and a single carved lion with paw resting on a cross
to the top.
With a rich and deep colour, cut from a single solid board of
figured rosewood, and egg and dart edges, it has below a running
bead and carved c-scroll form on the front, while the base is
fronted with stylised acanthus leaf scrolls to the foot.
Measuring 51in (130cm) long x 45in (110cm) high x 24in (61cm)
