A painting given in 1875 by the Fairhaven-born marine artist
William Bradford as a New Year's present to the 8-year-old daughter
of Fall River friends headlines Skinner's American Furniture &
Decorative Arts Auction to next Sunday at 11 a.m. at its Boston
gallery.
Previously unknown to collectors, "Arctic Sunset with the Ice-
Bound Panther" was discovered when a snapshot of the painting was
brought to a recent Skinner appraisal session in Keene, N.H. The 9-
by-13-inch oil on artist's board, which descended in the family of
Minnie Conant Reynolds (1867-1952), has an $80,000-$100,000
estimate.
