$36M contract awarded to repair Bluestone Dam
HUNTINGTON - A Pennsylvania company has received a $36 million
contract to repair Bluestone Dam.
The construction is part of a project to stabilize and strengthen
the dam, which went into operation in 1949.
Brayman Construction Co. of Saxonburg, Pa., will install 54
anchors in the dam's spillway and east abutment areas to help
strengthen and stabilize the structure. Brayman also will build a
work platform along the dam's western downstream face.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers plans to install 600 anchors to
increase the dam's stability.
