SO you think Lee Westwood's too long in the tooth to let a 20-
year-old urchin pinch the richest prize in European golf from under
his nose? Think again.
For sure, Phil Mickelson gave a polished performance in the
leading role last weekend, winning Chinese hearts and minds in
Shanghai along with the HSBC Champions title, a remarkable fourth
victory in a troubled year for the Californian.
Yet over the final 54 holes at Sheshan (and especially with
Sunday's course record-equalling 63), Rory McIlroy showed precisely
why he's rated as the most exciting prospect in golf.
Northern Ireland's Artful Dodger was back in all his glory,
picking more than a pocket or two as he scampered into fourth place ...
