RANDY Moss of the New England Patriots is from Eastern Kanawha County and he has not forgotten his roots. In junior high, high school and college, sportscasters were prone to say Moss played like a man among boys. He did.

Off the field, he had some growing up to do. Too often, Moss broke the rules of good behavior.

It cost him graduation with his high school class and a shot at playing for Notre Dame after signing a letter of intent to play there.

At 32, Moss is older and wiser. He has not only tried to set a better example, but he has truly given back to his community.

And he has often made those without seeking the publicity that usually accompanies the actions of a celebrity.
