Article: State employees protest changes to PEIA: ; Union leaders say proposal would raise premiums by 4 percent

Several dozen West Virginia employees complained Monday night that government leaders are abandoning them by raising their health insurance premiums and cutting benefits.

In a sometimes combative Public Employees Insurance Agency hearing at the Charleston Civic Center, union leaders and state workers said state officials and the Manchin administration have not fully explored other options to deal with rising medical costs and are picking state employees' pockets.

At one point a woman told PEIA director Ted Cheatham, "You are a cold, heartless man."
