Article: Composer to perform at 'Big Bean' fundraiser

Mark Wilson's musical talent stems from within.

"It's something I grabbed hold of as a child," said Wilson, 46, of Charleston. "It all strings from feelings, events and things I have experienced in life. My music is played from the heart."

Wilson moved from the northern portion of the state to Charleston in 2000 after a long battle with substance abuse. He eventually found his way to transitional housing at the Samaritan Inn where he became a graduate in 2004.

He now has his own apartment and works in retail and computer repair with spare time devoted to his music.
