Article: Painted quilt trail winds into Putnam County: ; Quilt squares that are displayed on buildings can help to promote tourism, committee says

A trail of quilt designs painted on barns along byways of Mason County and areas in a number of other states has won approval to wind its way into Putnam County.

The first square likely won't be on a barn, but instead on the embankment in front of the Putnam County Courthouse in Winfield.

County commissioners on Tuesday approved the placement.

The site was selected by a Putnam County quilt trail steering committee for its historical and cultural heritage as well as central location, the coordinator of the Great Kanawha Resource Conservation and Development program told commissioners.
