GIBSON CITY - Cody Gaesser had a big day Saturday. The Gibson
City-Melvin-Sibley High School senior caught four passes for 115
yards, including a 34-yard touchdown, in a 60-19 Class 2A football
playoff win over Mercer County.
The home crowd was on its feet, cheering the 6-foot-4, 190-
pounder's every move. He enjoyed it, appreciated it. Yet, the
highlight of his weekend came the night before.
Gaesser's band Shadowlight "just rocked the place" at the
school's annual variety show, said GCMS head coach Mike Allen. While
Gaesser loves sports - he also plays basketball and is a state meet
placer in track - his passion is music.
He is more guitar hero than football hero.
